Getting Everest Base camp or How to Reach EBC

Now that you are aware of the hazards this iconic adventure entails, you are impatient to go. How will arrive there? Journeying to EBC’s beginning is an adventure unto itself. First, you’ll fly into Nepal’s electrifying, rickshaw-rattling capital city of Kathmandu.

UNESCO-listed monuments and aromatic ingredients of Nepalese food establishments make this place spectacular. Since Kathmandu is only a modest 4,500 feet (1,372m) above sea level, we typically advise visitors to arrive at least a few days before they are scheduled to begin their trip. This is primarily for social acclimation.

Along with that, you’ll have enough time to pick up any last-second hiking equipment you have possibly overlooked. There are many respectable outdoor retailers in Kathmandu that provide substantial discounts on essentials including down sleeping bags and winter clothing.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to view some of the nation’s greatest cultural landmarks, such as the tower-topped sacred sites of Durbar Square and the enormous Boudhanath Stupa, which is typically covered in praying flags that flutter in the breeze.

You may get from Kathmandu to the starting point of Everest Base Camp in Lukla by taking a short-term aircraft from the internal section of Kathmandu Airport. The flight is only around half an hour long, but it is somewhat nerve-wracking because the runway on the Lukla side is enormous (9,300 feet/2,835 meters) over the ocean on a high slope. It’s not an excursion you’re going to quickly recall.

Go there and away From Everest Base Camp Trek:

The only option to reach Everest Base Camp is trekking or taking a helicopter flight there. For getting away from Everest Base Camp also trek back to Lukla or fly by helicopter.

There are different routes for Everest Base Camp Trek. But the most common or classic route of Everest Base Camp is to fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek 8 days to reach Everest Base Camp. And 3 days back from Everest Base Camp by trekking. After completing the trek also fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla

How long is the Everest Base Camp Trekking?

The Everest Base Camp trip is undoubtedly a most renowned trip in Southeast Asia, if not the globe.

Even argue that the trek’s expanding appeal is its own greatest rival, and it’s accurate that the path has experienced overpopulation as well as trash in the past decade.

None of this, nevertheless, will take from the fantastic feeling of daring experienced with approaching the brink of the globe’s tallest summit.

This achieves an elevated level in the beginning stages of your journey, when that you’ll receive an astonishing backdrop of Mount Everest from the observation deck on Ama Dablam’s southwest slope.

Everest Base Camp Trek Distance

The benefits of the journey are not so easy to get by. EBC is a high-altitude trek that demands extensive acclimatization over a long period of time.

To accomplish the 80-mile (130km) loop that begins in Lukla, you’ll need 12-14 days to complete the entirely hiking (yes, even you’re “rest periods” require hiking!).

This route is approximately split into distinct day parts that range from 8-10 miles (13-16km), but the entire journey takes several days to complete since the elevation requires it to be split down into small parts with acclimatize and vacation days sprinkled throughout.

Most routes allow ample time to accomplish each leg on a particular day at a speed significantly slower than the typical walking speed.

The usual 14-day Everest Base Camp Trek is a circular route of 130 kilometers. It takes a total of eight days for a trip to the base camp of Everest and four days to return over a 12-day period.

In 12 Days, there is always time and place for adaptation. Because of the popularity of the Everest Base Camp Trek among adrenaline travelers, some people misunderstand and exaggerate the risks of high-altitude illness and fundamental mountaineering precautions.

All that matters is summiting Mt. Everest and reaching Everest Base Camp. They plan to complete it in ten days, if not nine. That is far too rapid. If you rarely spend a lot of time at elevation, we recommend selecting this option.

Each day EBC Trekking times

Most trekkers climb for an average of eight hours per each day, although this can increase slightly as you approach higher-elevation parts of the trail – not only because of the physical effort but also since they’re resting frequently to enjoy all the amazing sights!

EBC Trekking Food | Meals in Everest Base Camp Trek

You are probably assured that every minute of that hiking will cook up a huge hunger. Fortunately, EBC restaurants serve adequate cuisine whenever you’re ready for a meal. Avoid being shocked if the meal plans are nearly the same the entire way, even though the meals itself change dramatically depending on the moods of individual cooks throughout the path.

  • Dal Bhat

Dal bhat is the most famous EBC dish. Every walker who has completed the trail has had this spicy lentil dish preferably one. It’s often eaten with rice and roti called chapati.

  • Sherpa stew

A traditional Nepalese dish and an excellent veggie alternative, shyakpa comprises simple liquid Local Noodles with sliced potatoes, carrots, and a variety of root veggies.

  • Pizza

A few tea shops experimented with pizza. We’re going to leave it to you to decide if you think the Italians will feel satisfied.

  • Fries and an egg

This hefty alternative contains hand-cut, roasted potatoes and double-egg fried eggs ideal for people who are ravenous.

Everest Base Camp Trek Accommodation

Everest Base Camp Trek Accommodation

Everest Base camp Trek Accommodations/ EBC Trekking Accommodations

All of our lodgings on the Everest Base Camp Trek path are probably going to be guest houses, with the exception of the stays in Kathmandu at the beginning and finish of your journey. Don’t be misled by the title; they’re just for hot beverages. Actually, these are fully functional bed & meal facilities created specifically to accommodate tourists.

The EBC teahouses in Nepal offer straightforward, spotless lodging. As a general rule, the quality improves near the beginning of the walk, when the tea houses are bigger and more well-stocked. Usually, rooms have simple decor. They have low-rise mattresses with foam mattress cushions, plaster or wood-paneled buildings, and typically just one window.

While some tea houses offer in-room warmth, others are warmed by a centralized fire that keeps them lit at night. Although some locations provide hot showers, the majority only do. Most locations offer electrical device recharging, albeit there may be an additional charge.

Everest Base Camp Trekking Gears

It’s important to keep in mind that there are severe weight limitations for every person on the first aircraft between Kathmandu to Lukla before deciding what to bring for the excursion.

Additionally, there might be restrictions on the number, size, and weight of bags you can ask porters to bring on their way down to EBC. Due to such limitations, you need to pack seriously for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

On average, you should limit the weight of your main hiking packs to between 20 and 30 pounds (10 and 15 kilos), and bring the hiking essentials in a modest 30-liter daily pack.

In the highlands of the Himalayas, layering is essential because it may become rather warmer throughout the day and go very cold at nighttime. To adjust to changing environments, it’s necessary to be capable to add and remove the fleece and insulating layers from the upper part of your body.

we advise taking both trousers and durable hiking trousers for the lower body, with decent thermal-rated underlayers on top (especially for the lower altitudes of the climb where the weather can be delightfully warm).

Additionally important for your travel are waterproof gears. In the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains snowfall and rainfall can occur suddenly, and conditions on the EBC Trek pay little attention to the therefore-called peak season.

Thus bad conditions can occur at any moment of the year. However, because of the abundance of icy surfaces and the significantly colder weather, winter hikers will need to make a bit more preparation.

You’ll also need to consider all the necessities for walking. You need a sturdy sweat-resistant sunblock, headlamps, good boots, a pair of hiking poles that are familiar with using, a woolen hat and a sun cap, as well as a hydration container with a sufficient quantity.

That only scratches the outer layer, but should you arrange with The Nepal hikers, we’ll ensure that guarantee that you’re adequately equipped for your preferred season when traveling the EBC path. Please inquire us for a detailed carrying list or Read Here.

Where is Everest Base Camp (EBC)?

The Mount Everest Base Camp (EBC) is situated in Nepal, close to Tibet’s (China) borderline. Lukla, a tiny city in Nepal’s Khumbu area, is the starting point of an extremely well-known trail to Everest Base Camp.

Beginning at Lukla, hikers and climbing enthusiasts often continue the path across a number of communities and high-altitude vistas till they approach Everest Base Camp.

The South Base Camp in Nepal and the North Base Camp in Tibet (China) are two separate base camps for Mount Everest, it’s vital to remember this.

Since it offers passage to the common path for climbing Mount Everest from the Nepalese side, the South Base Camp is the one that is more popular and often traveled.

Everest Base Camp Trek Elevation

Everest Base Camp History

Mountaineering on Mount Everest began in the spring of 1920 with a group headed by George Mallory (who most believe was the initial climber who reached the top) arrived to plan out the northern side.

Nevertheless, Mallory and his business partner rarely constructed an ongoing camp on their excursions, and when China seized Tibetan in 1949, their northern path was effectively closed.

Then followed Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s conquest campaign. It happened on the country’s southern hills. Hillary and Norgay understood that having an area to store equipment at the foot of the mountain make it simpler.

Then trekking through every inch of the Khumbu Valley anytime they required equipment. As a result, Everest Base Camp was established.

Shower and battery charge

During the Everest Base Camp Tour, most tea houses have shower facticity and battery charging is available. Shower regulated by gas and 24 hour available whereas battery charge by electricity in lower elevation and solar in upper elevation.

We advise all trekkers to get a 20 GB or 30 GB WI-Fi card rather than pay for usage on a daily basis. This card can be used to reduce costs during the entire voyage until your pack is all that is left.

Mobile Internet The tea houses all have poor connections. Mobile data internet is only available in Namche, Lukla, Tyangboche, and Everest Base Camp. That signal fluctuated between being powerful and weak.

Drinking water during the Everest Base Camp Trek

Water is available for drinking in every tea establishment. This mineral water is in a plastic bottle. The tea rooms sell hot water to many trekkers.

Best time For Everest Base Camp Tour and Trek

The Everest Base Camp Tours and Trek are doable throughout the year.

In Nepal, it has primarily two hiking occasions for trips to Everest Base Camp. Both occur in the spring (late March to May for the first) during the fall (approximately September to November for the second). Both high seasons, which bring more brightness and better visibility with no significant rainfall, virtually overlap the major monsoon season. However, it’s crucial to remember that at this altitude, there cannot be an assurance of no rain.

Everest Base Camp Trek In March:

The official hiking period begins in March, but it is not yet at its height. This entails an advantageous combination of less crowded areas, teahouse accessibility, and cost. By this time, most of the freshly fallen snowfall is melting away, but as temperatures rise, some heat haze may still be present, making visibility difficult.

Everest Base Camp Trek In April:

The Mount Everest Base Camp Trek is busier in April, and for an excellent reason: There are many clear days, spectacular views, and pleasant weather. If you want to observe the most dedicated climbers preparing for an ascent attempt up Mount Everest itself, you might also want to go in April.

Everest Base Camp Trek In May:

The season with the greatest temperatures on the path, May, has milder nighttime weather. The possibility for some early-monsoon rainfall and thermal cloud that can block sights are drawbacks.

Everest Base Camp Trek In September:

September The occasional rainfall may persist in the initial month following the rainy season. But it also indicates that the more remote portions of the trip around Namche Bazaar and Lukla are delightfully luxuriant lush blossom flowers and vibrant vegetation.

Everest Base Camp Trek In October:

Only April has more passengers each month than October. As a result of the ideal combination of nice temperatures and bright sky, numerous trekkers take the EBC route at this time. It’s actually the most visible of all the times, so it’s ideal for anyone who desire unimpeded panoramas of Everest.

Everest Base Camp Trek In November:

By the month of November, cold winter weather may start to develop. Upper elevations frequently have snowfall, so you’ll require the right warm clothes to survive the evenings. Super-clear sky and far lesser walkers on the route are the benefits.

EBC Trekking From December to February:

Snowfall is the primary trigger of the low season, which lasts from December through February. At Namche Bazaar, one of the lower locations on the walk, weather on these cooler days averaging only 25 Fahrenheit (-4°C) in the middle of January.

It’s not the best for long treks which require the usage of plywood-walled teahouses. But even so, completing the EBC still isn’t unattainable right now; it simply has particular difficulties.

To accomplish the walk, you’ll probably need more time and much more thermo-layer clothing, as well as specialized hiking gear to withstand the snowdrifts. The good news is that the route is rarely crowded in the winter and that winter days provide exceptionally blue skies.

EBC Trek From June to August:

Do not choose June, July, and, August for travel to Everest Base Camp. During these months, flights get canceled a lot and mountain views get covered by dark clouds.

Conclusion:

In summary, the best of the best time to Everest Base Camp is October, November, April, and May. But every month has its own beauty. For quiet and peaceful lovers winter season is the best time to travel. During this season fewer travelers trek to Everest base camp.

You may encounter piles of snow in the trails and you may also find the temperature quite unbearable. However, with some preparation, you can observe the best views of the Himalayas at this time.

If you are thinking of trekking this region during the winter season then beware of risks and carry some winter gear and extra warm clothes.

Although it’s a difficult assignment, I do rarely see individuals who decide never to hire an assistant. In the end, keep in mind the fact that the Mount Everest Base Camp trip entails a few days of trekking at elevations exceeding 11480 feet (3,500m) above sea level.

On top of difficult terrain, when determining whether or not the sherpa assistance is ideal for you. With only twenty Kilograms  (45 pounds) of gear hanging to your upper body, it’s difficult.
